Follow the progress of So Everybody Can Move legislation in every state that has an active bill.
OCTOBER 2023 UPDATE: State legislatures won’t be in session for another 10 weeks or so, but that doesn’t mean nothing is happening. On the contrary, there’s been a lot happening all summer and fall. National organizers have been hard at work lining up bill sponsors, identifying grassroots advocates, assembling data, and fine-tuning policy provisions and talking points. They’ve also established a website, soeverybodycanmove.org, to centralize coordinating efforts and outreach strategy.
At the moment, five bills are ready to roll in at least five states: two holdovers from 2023 (in Indiana and New Hampshire), and new bills in Minnesota, New Jersey, and Massachusetts. They’re expected to be joined by at least another half-dozen entrants once the 2024 legislatures are gaveled into session. Legislators have expressed interest in Washington, Oregon, Tennessee, Georgia, California, Wisconsin, Ohio, Florida, and Pennsylvania, among other states.
We’ll keep filling in details about this legislation as it emerges.
