This virtual travel company, launched in December by bilateral amputee Brittany Palmer, offers interactive guided tours of destinations all over the world. Whether you’re looking for wildlife, architecture, history, the arts, street culture, or some other type of attraction, Beeyonder’s you-are-there packages can bring Lake Victoria to your laptop or Ireland to your iPad.
Unlike virtual-voyage services that popped up to capitalize on the pandemic travel pause, Beeyonder was created specifically to serve people with disabilities. Its long-range mission is to open doors that would otherwise be closed by physical, financial, or logistical factors.
“I wanted to bring true access to travel,” Palmer says. “We educate our tour guides and operators about the [disability] market, explaining how large it is and why it’s so important to be a part of this movement to bring travel to everyone. We recognize that there are people with different needs taking our tours, and we have a network of people who work with those with different types of disabilities.”
You can join group tours on Beeyonder for $15 or less; private outings typically cost $100 and up. Most experiences last from 45 to 90 minutes.
