Amputee Blade Runners is a nonprofit organization that helps provide free running prosthetics for amputees. Running prosthetics are not covered by insurance and are considered “not medically necessary,” so ABR helps amputees keep an active lifestyle. Our goal is to provide a running prosthesis to one athlete in all 50 states. We currently have athletes in 31 states who serve as ambassadors to other amputees.

Our mission is to enhance the physical and psychological quality of life for wounded veterans by providing custom-trained mobility assistance service dogs at no cost. We believe disabled individuals can experience a higher level of societal and community involvement and acceptance through effective use of a service dog.

Children may receive prosthetic care at St. Jude in conjunction with treatment of a catastrophic illness such as osteosarcoma. Acceptance for treatment is based solely on a patient’s eligibility for an ongoing clinical trial at the hospital.

All entries in the Amputee Community Resource Directory are assigned to a primary category, represented by the corresponding icon. Here are the types of resources for amputees that each icon represents:

Some organizations offer multiple types of resources for amputees and are assigned to multiple categories. For example, an organization that provides outdoor recreation programs for disabled veterans will appear if you sort by “Adaptive Sports Programs” and if you sort by “Military Veterans Programs.”
