There are so many ways to celebrate Limb Loss and Limb Difference Awareness Month that it’s impossible to participate in every event. Choices are necessary. But how do you decide which observances to participate in and which ones to pass up? Have no fear, astrology is here!
So which way are the cosmic winds blowing this month? I read the charts (you’re welcome) and brainstormed ways you can maximize your enjoyment of LLLDAM, no matter what sign you were born under. Check out the guidance below and have a blast!.
ARIES (March 21–April 19)
Make your dreams come true.
It’s not just Limb Loss and Limb Difference Awareness Month; it’s also your birthday! This year you have an extra present with Jupiter, the planet of luck, giving your new endeavors the Midas touch. What’s a dream you’ve had for a while? This is the month to initiate. Get inspired with tips from amputee entrepreneurs who are making ideas happen. If you’re an older adult, let Wish of a Lifetime from AARP bring your dream to life. The stars are behind you—this LLLDAM, you truly are unlimited!
TAURUS (April 20–May 20)
Take more naps.
These last weeks before your birthday are perfect for healing, closure, and rest. You’re about to finish another circuit around the sun, so celebrate LLLDAM with a nice, long nap. Take off your prosthesis and take in some serenity. If you’ve been struggling to get a good night’s sleep, know that you’re not alone. Read up on how amputees can get better ZZZZs. Now go hibernate until your birthday. Sweet dreams!
GEMINI (May 21–June 20)
Amp up your social media.
Stretch out your wings, social butterfly, and share LLLDAM with the world! If you’re on social media, feel free to post all about your life as an amputee. Check out these suggested hashtags from ROMP, or come up with your own thing. Don’t be afraid to share the good and the bad. Being an amputee isn’t all running blades and microprocessors. Sharing your ups and your downs helps raise authentic awareness about our community. Let’s share our world with the world.
CANCER (June 21–July 22)
Tap into the amputee community.
Multiple celestial bodies are energizing your house of community and social status this month. This LLLDAM, celebrate your place in the amputee tribe. Scroll through Amplitude’s new Amputee Community Resource Directory and see if there’s a connection that appeals to you. If you’ve been hesitant to reach out, this is a month to do it. If you’re feeling energetic, consider volunteering. Amputee summer camps and adaptive sport events could use volunteers with limb loss.
LEO (July 23–August 22)
Plan a trip.
This year for LLLDAM, the stars beckon you to expand your horizons. What’s on your travel bucket list? Read up on tips and tricks for adaptive travel and plan it. Just be careful between April 21 and May 14—that’s Mercury retrograde. For the uninitiated, Mercury retrograde makes things go haywire. Emails get lost, the internet goes down, and conflicts with your nonrefundable travel plans appear out of nowhere. Use that time for research instead. Looking to stay closer to home? Local horizons are worth expanding, too. Is there a park in your town you’ve been meaning to visit? A book to read? A movie to see? Do it, for LLLDAM.
VIRGO (August 23–September 22)
Spend time with your special ones.
Saturn just moved into your house of partnerships, bringing your focus to your closest ties. This LLLDAM, you’re invited to devote your time to the people you love most—your closest friends, relatives, kids, perhaps even your favorite coworker, and of course, anyone you love romantically. For them especially, bring back that Valentine’s Day vibe with some amputee love stories from the Amplitude archives.
LIBRA (September 23–October 22)
Fight for your cause.
As the sign of the scales, the urge to correct every injustice facing the disability community might strike you especially hard. Maybe you’ve been keeping an eye on the 2023 Legislation Tracker and feeling anxious. This LLLDAM, Mars in your tenth house of ambition is pushing you to take action. Fundraise, call some legislators, or launch a social media awareness campaign. Do whatever spurs your spirit to move the needle forward!
SCORPIO (October 23–November 21)
Nourish your body.
An eclipse on April 20 will launch a two-year focus on your wellness. Traditional horoscopes might recommend a workout here, but this is an amputee horoscope. Yes, moving our bodies is important, but sometimes it’s just not happening. There’s more to wellness than exercise, though. There’s also meditation, a well-fitting socket, or a good meal with friends. If you are up for activity, use LLLDAM to try a new adaptive sport (or even jump on the pickleball bandwagon, if you haven’t already). Whatever you do, thank your body for doing what it can.
SAGITTARIUS (November 22–December 21)
Try a new limb look.
This season brings out your creativity, and the April 20 eclipse could have you shining in the limelight. A great way to use this energy during LLLDAM would be to upgrade your limb look. Your fans are sure to love it! Check out Nick Harrier’s steampunk prosthetics or the new chrome covers at Alleles for inspiration. Just be careful about making purchases from April 21 to May 14, during the Mercury retrograde. Mercury in retrograde has a way of meddling with irreversible decisions, and the last thing you need is retail remorse.
CAPRICORN (December 22–January 19)
Adapt your home.
April typically brings a focus on home and family for Capricorns, which will be magnified by the April 20 eclipse. This LLLDAM, think about how your home could better serve your needs. Is there a low-cost modification that might make your life easier? Or has your limb collection gotten out of hand (so to speak) and begun crying out to be reorganized or even decluttered? If it’s the latter, talk to your prosthetist about recycling or donating some of those old parts via the Limbs for Life Foundation or Penta Prosthetics.
AQUARIUS (January 20–February 18)
Watch TV.
As the humanitarian of the zodiac, you have a natural impulse to use LLLDAM (and every other occasion) to give back to the community. However, you just finished three years of a Saturn transit in your sign. Saturn shows up in each sign every 28 years with one goal: to tear you down and build you back stronger. You did the work, now take a break! Might I recommend my favorite pastime, watching TV? You can still support amputees from the couch by watching shows with amputee storylines.
PISCES (February 19–March 20)
Treat yourself.
The eclipse on April 20 hints towards changes in how you earn and invest money, which ideally will result in more income for you over the next two years. To prepare for this, take steps now to solidify your financial future. And since “fiscal responsibility” doesn’t exactly feel celebratory, go ahead and treat yourself for LLLDAM. Who says this isn’t a gift-giving holiday? (Not Amplitude; check the receipts.) Get yourself something special. For inspiration, check out last winter’s holiday amputee gift guide. Happy Limb Loss and Limb Difference Awareness Month!
