Hanger Charitable Foundation Awards First Round of 2016 Grants

The Hanger Charitable Foundation, Austin, Texas, completed its first round of 2016 grants by awarding $54,000 to eight nonprofit organizations. The recipients include:

    • Bike Camp, Down Syndrome of Louisville, Kentucky: $2,000 to fund two camps in Louisville to help children with Down syndrome develop the skills to ride a bicycle
    • Team Up for Down Syndrome, Down Syndrome Network, Arizona: $1,000 to support projects fostering the development of the Down syndrome community in Arizona
    • 2016 Jacksonville Muscle Walk, Muscular Dystrophy Association: $1,000 to fund an annual fundraising walk held by the MDA chapter in Jacksonville, Florida
    • First Stride Sponsor, Orthotic and Prosthetic Activities Foundation: $15,000 to empower people with lower-limb amputations through First Stride walking and running clinics nationwide
    • Camp for All 2U, Camp for All Foundation: $5,000 to help bring a weeklong, in-house, hospital camping experience to children at Dell Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas, Austin
    • Youth Adaptive Sports Program, Bay Area Outreach and Recreation Program: $5,000 to support adaptive sports and recreation opportunities for youth in the Bay Area
    • Angel City Sports 2016: $15,000 to provide sports programming in Southern California for children, adults, and veterans with physical differences and impairments
    • 2016 U.S. Paralympic Team Trials (Cycling, Swimming, Track and Field), Partners for Parks: $10,000 to support the team trials being held in North Carolina

The application deadline for the next round of funding is April 30.
