
By now, the national So Every BODY Can Move (SEBCM) team has its operations down to a science. Over the first three years of this initiative, 12 states passed laws to expand insurance coverage for prosthetic devices, nearly halfway to the goal of 28 states by 2028. This year, movement leaders are optimistic that another half-dozen or so states will join the fold—and they expect as many as 22 new states to file SEBCM bills in 2026.

North Carolina
The General Assembly passed HB 906 unanimously (110-0) at the end of last year’s session. The bill is now on the Senate docket.
Odds of passage: HIGH
Massachusetts
The important Joint Committee on Financial Services approved the bill late last year. It now rests with the Joint Committee on Health Care Financing.

Ohio
A bipartisan coalition of legislators introduced an SEBCM bill last fall. With strong support on both sides of the aisle, it could move quickly.
Odds of passage: moderate
Tennessee
Two neighbors (Arkansas and Georgia) have already enacted SEBCM laws, and a third (North Carolina) is nearly there, making the Volunteer State a prime candidate.

Michigan
National SEBCM co-director Nicole ver Kuilen, a Michigan native, has high hopes for the Great Lakes State in this session.
