Victoria Hand Project Wins $250,000 Prize

The Victoria Hand Project, which makes low-cost, 3D-printed prosthetic hands for people in developing countries, won a $250,000 grant in the Google.org Impact Challenge for Canadian nonprofit innovators. The Victoria Hand Project is based at the University of Victoria.

The public and a panel of local judges vote for the ideas with the most potential, and Google.org pairs each winner with a strategic package of support that includes funding and mentorship. The top five of the ten finishers earned $750,000 each, and the others received $250,000 each.
