Syracuse University is hosting one of the only disability-themed comic cons in the world with the fifth annual “Cripping” the Comic Con symposium on April 22.

The full-day international summit, whose theme is “Our Own Icons!” aims to engage participants in reflective discussions about representations of disability, both implicit and explicit, in mainstream popular cultures. The event features the United Kingdom’s Department of Ability and the Access Avengers, two teams of superheroes with disabilities.
