OPAF First Swim Announces Coaching Staff Addition

OPAF announced that Shawn Kornoelje has joined the staff of its First Swim program. Kornoelje has over 28 years of experience coaching swimmers at the high school, collegiate, national, and Paralympic levels, including Jason Wening, CPO/L, FAAOP. Wening, who has a bilateral transtibial amputation, won a world record-setting gold medal in the 400m freestyle at the 2000 Summer Paralympic Games in Sydney, Australia.

“Shawn will be integral in helping us institute an educational component to First Swim, which will help train therapists and other allied health professionals in adaptive swimming and safety,” said Robin Burton, OPAF’s executive director.
