Dancing Again

After surviving a traumatic brain injury (TBI) and above-knee amputation in 1996 due to being hit and almost killed by a car, I am excited to share my new life as a dancing amputee with the world!

So why do I dance?

Because I’m happy to be alive!

Life is full of challenges, but it is how we deal with those challenges that makes the difference. Today, instead of continuing my previous career as the spokesperson for Baltimore-Washington International Airport, I am a dancing amputee with a brain injury—a living example that people with disabilities can still do many of the things they did before.

Thanks to my dream-making resources—my prosthetic team; doctor; physical therapist; husband, Jerry O. Pittman; and son, Evan Jerron Pittman—for their belief, love, and support that helped me along my journey so that I could finally achieve my dream!
