Researcher Seeking Upper-limb Prosthesis Users for Study

A doctoral candidate, Andrew Hodrien, in the School of Health Sciences at the University of Salford, Manchester, England, is seeking people who use upper-limb prostheses to participate in a study, “A Content Analysis of Factors Associated With Embodiment of Upper Limb Prostheses.” The research will involve semi-structured interviews through e-mail, and responses will be kept confidential. Participants’ use of a prosthesis can be due to amputation or congenital limb loss. The study is open through September 18.

The aim of the study is to identify a range of factors associated with upper-limb prosthesis embodiment (i.e., a prosthetic limb is experienced as part of the user) with the purpose of understanding the factors involved in why some prosthesis users feel like their limb is a part of their body, while others do not.
