On April 25, Representative Renee Ellmers (R-NC) introduced H.R. 5045, Preserving Access to Modern Prosthetic Limbs Act of 2016. The purpose of the bill is to impose a moratorium on the implementation of a proposed Draft Medicare Local Coverage Determination (LCD) for Lower Limb Prostheses (DL33787), which was introduced in July 2015. The bill places a moratorium on implementing the draft LCD until June 30, 2017, and also requires that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and its contractors remove the policy from their websites. This bipartisan bill was co-sponsored by Representative Janice Schakowsky (D-IL).
