Amputee Coalition Announces Scholarship Recipients

The Amputee Coalition has announced that four recipients will receive the Scott Decker, MD, Memorial Scholarship for the 2015-2016 academic year. The recipients, Austin Brown, Tyson Higel, Brickelle Bro, and Amy Frank, will each be awarded $1,000 toward their college tuition. Brown will attend Washington State University to study engineering. Higel currently attends Northwest Missouri State University and is studying therapeutic recreation. Bro, a member of the U.S. Paralympic Swim Team, will attend Stanford University to study psychology and the mental impact of limb loss. Frank will attend Texas A&M to pursue a degree in geophysics. High-school seniors, recent high-school graduates, adults returning to school, and current college students are eligible to apply for the annual scholarship.

“The Amputee Coalition is very pleased to have so many qualified applicants for the Scott Decker, MD, Scholarship that we were able to award four different individuals,” said Susan Stout, president and CEO of the Amputee Coalition. “Each of these young people have learned to live successfully with limb loss and each have clear goals for their future. Once again, we sincerely thank Dr. Decker’s family for the opportunities this will present to the recipients.”
