More than 100 people attended the launch of the Orthotic & Prosthetic Activities Foundation’s (OPAF’s) First Cycle clinic on October 4 in Greenville, South Carolina, making it the largest single-event First Clinic ever. First Cycle offers adaptive-cycling opportunities for children and adults facing physical and/or mobility challenges.
OPAF develops, implements, and hosts a variety of adaptive recreational clinics for those with physical challenges. Founded in 1995 to support the Paralympic Games in Atlanta, OPAF now offers introductory level adaptive recreation opportunities to everyone, not just the elite athlete.
“This brings our number to 12 different First Clinics offered by OPAF, introducing the physically and mobility challenged population to recreation and activities that they may have thought lost to them. We…look forward to introducing new First Clinics in 2015 with First Dash and First Safeguard,” said Robin Burton, OPAF executive director.
