NAAOP President Responds to CMS Findings Regarding Lower-limb Prostheses

The National Association for the Advancement of Orthotics and Prosthetics (NAAOP) has released an audio bulletin in which NAAOP President Dave McGill responds to the findings of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ (CMS) Interagency Workgroup’s Consensus Document for lower-limb prostheses that was announced June 14. https://opedge.com/Articles/ViewArticle/2018-06-15/cms-removes-draft-lcd-for-lower-limb-prostheses-per-interagency-workgroup

McGill comments on key elements in the consensus document, including suggestions affecting prosthetists, device manufacturers, prior authorization approval requests, and, by extension, individuals with amputations; reviews some of the most relevant recommendations contained in the consensus document; and considers the resulting implications.

The audio bulletin is posted on the NAAOP website.
