Best Halloween Costumes by Amputees in 2022

November 2, 2022
0

This is Amplitude‘s third annual almanac of All Hallows amputee artistry, and it seems like the community gets more creative every year. By “creative,” we mean clever, inventive, daring, wonderfully weird, and occasionally kind of psycho.

Click on any image to get a larger view of the trick-or-treater at their original Instagram feed. If you had a really good costume this year that we happened to miss, send us a pic and we’ll add it to the gallery. Happy scrolling.

Best Josh Sundquist Costume

As always, we start with the master masquerader, Josh Sundquist, whose heroic feats of Halloween habiliment need no introduction. This year he returns to the Marvel Universe (a frequent source of inspiration) as Thor’s Hammer. That’s his wife, Ashley, in the mask and cape. @joshsundquist.

Best Costume by This Month's Amplitude Cover Model

Our current cover model, Cairn Atkinson, is usually attired in sunnier and splashier garb than what you see here. Check her out in her standard pinup guise in this month’s edition of Amplitude, and catch up with her on Insta @__flamingo_florence__.

Best Superheroes in Training

Chaseman, you’re the best-dressed amputee this side of Wakanda. @the_chaseman.

Ninja Jojo’s on the candy warpath again. @tidbit_outta_hand.

Best Cheerleaders

Gimme a B-R-I-D-G-E-T-S-T-R-O-N-G. @bridgetstrong1.

Well, that’s one way to show your school spirit, Harmonie-Rose. @hope4harmonie.

Best Men of Myth-tery

Look who’s wandered in from Sherwood Forest. It’s Shaquem Griffin! @shaquem_griffin.

Hercules himself has got nothing on you, Tomas De La Mora. @tomas_delamora.

Best Amputees on Wheels

Now don’t be givin’ me that load o’ blarney, Chris Koch. @ifican.chriskoch.

Trick, or treat? Hulya Marquardt is of a divided mind. @huelya_dennis.

Best Witchy Women

Along came a spider, and sat down beside her . . . .  and Victoria Modesta just shrugged. @viktoriamodesta.

Begone, eye of newt and wool of bat. Lyric Mariah casts a more stylish spell. @phenixsoul.

Best Movie-Inspired Costumes

Mark Ormrod, this is your Chucky break. @markormrod

Think cyborgs don’t rule? Gina Ruhl’s here to terminate that idea. @gina.ruhl.

I wouldn’t eat the candy they’re handing out at Room 237 if I were you, Lisa Poole. @lisajpoole13.

The clerks and mallrats of the world salute you, Sam Schaefer. @samschaefer1.

Best Punkinheads

Donald Lee, that is one Gritty costume. @donaldklee.

If you don’t believe in the Great Pumpkin, Sara Montgomery would like to have a word with you. @saralillianmontgomery.

Best Boneheads

Something wicket this way comes . . . . oh never mind, it’s just Heather Harmz. @heatherharmz.

Luis Lopes is back from the boneyard. @luis_qlopes.

Best Pirates

They’re fixin’ to splice the mainbrace at Barber Prosthetics. @barber_prosthetics.

Hoist the mizzen, me laddie! Don’t be hornswagglin’ about! @campnolimits.

. . . and Four for the Road

Yeeesh. Looks like Conny Hanafy’s a bit overdue for a socket adjustment. . . . . @conniebraaps.

Here’s Kayley Prinzi, pretty in pink. @kayleyprinzess.

Isabelle Weall sports one of this year’s most arresting costumes. @itz.izz.

Saskia Fox is ready to dance the night away. @sassi.foxi.
