a four-day festival of clinics, competition, activities, and celebration of Paralympic sports. The clinic and competition format allows athletes to receive instruction and develop their skills, then participate in a competitive environment to push them against the clock, other athletes, and themselves.

The 2017 edition features five adaptive sports—swimming, archery, track and field, wheelchair basketball, and wheelchair tennis. The competition is sanctioned by Adaptive Sports USA, and results can qualify youth athletes for the National Junior Disability Championships.

Event organizer Angel City Sports focuses on creating a fun environment for athletes, families, friends, and fans where they can enjoy competitive adaptive sports and the Los Angeles ambience. The annual celebrity wheelchair basketball game has featured Hollywood stars like Adam Sandler, Paralympians, Olympians, NFL greats, and UCLA sports alumni. The 2017 Games will also feature toddler track and field events, an opening night “Great Games Family Cookout,” Kids Fun Zone, live entertainment, and more.

The event is open to athletes of all ages and ability levels. Anyone with a physical disability, mobility challenge, or visual impairment can participate.

Registration closes June 11.

Adaptive sports clinics are free, and adaptive sports competition fees vary per event. An event T-shirt and swag bag are included with all athlete registrations. All participants in the competitions will receive a 2017 Angel City Games medal and placement ribbon.

Volunteers are needed for a variety of roles. Each shift will last no more than four hours, and each volunteer will receive a T-shirt. For details, please contact volunteer@angelcitysports.org.

The Games are open to the public with a $5 suggested donation. All event proceeds benefit Angel City Sports, a nonprofit organization that provides adaptive sports in Southern California for kids, adults, and veterans with physical disabilities.
