Samantha Tubbs

The Backstory:
Samantha Tubbs was born with undeveloped left arm and without her left hand. From an early age she was active in a variety of sports but at 14 she joined her local swim team and has since move into the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Training Center. Tubbs has competed in both the 2018 and 2019 World Para Swimming World Series where she placed first in the 100m breaststroke and fifth in the 200m individual medley at both. She has been training for the Tokyo Games after she missed making the Paralympic team in time for the Rio Games in 2016.

Away from swimming:
When she isn’t training or competing, Tubbs can be found volunteering at her YMCA teaching young kids how to swim. She also spends her time assisting with water therapy patients at physical therapist office.

In their own words:
“Swimming is my life.”
