The Backstory:
Paul Peterson III was involved in a motorcycle accident in 2007 that lead to the amputation of his right leg below the knee. While he joined the para-sport world later in life, after being introduced by his prosthetists, he picked it up quickly. He started competing in track and field, earning several medals as a member of the World Team in 2013 and 2014. Peterson will now be shifting his sport, competing at Tokyo as a swimmer.
Away from swimming:
Peterson enjoys spending time with his family and dogs in his hometown of Charlotte, North Carolina.
In their own words:
“I’m not going to let anything stop me.”
