The Background:
Emma Rose Ravish was born without legs and grew up learning how to achieve whatever she set her mind too. When it came to archery, her approach was no different. Throughout her time practicing she has adapted to get the balance she needs, as well as seamlessly switching from a compound bow to recurve. Newer to competing, Ravish made her para-archery debut in 2019 at the Recurve Open where she qualified for the World Archery Para Championships. She has set multiple national records since then, is the youngest, most accomplished recurve women open archer in the U.S., and took home silver at the 2021 Para Pan American Championships. She will be representing Team USA at the 2021 Paralympics Games in Tokyo.
Away from archery:
When she isn’t training or refining her aim, Ravish enjoys spending time with her family and service dog, Aragon.
In their own words:
“Going to the Paralympics means more to me than I can even put into words. The last time I was on a competition field, I was here [at the Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center] and my grandma had just passed, and so this tournament changes this from a place that brings back painful and bittersweet memories to something that’s now and forever where I earned my spot for Tokyo.”
“Earning the slot to me means the world…knowing that overcoming obstacles and working hard, along with the support of family, friends, faith, coaches and teammates, truly does pay off.”
“The Trials was definitely a test on my mental game. The mental strength that it takes to get through Trials has been an incredible lesson to learn and I’m very grateful for all my support systems and the people in my life that have given me the ability to have that mental toughness.”
