2024 Outlook: When healthy, Torres is a strong medal threat in the 400m freestyle. His top time in 2023 would have been good for silver at last year’s World Championships; unfortunately, a last-second injury knocked Torres off his peak form at the Worlds and kept him from the podium. Assuming he’s at full strength in Paris, he’s a threat to win gold in the 400m freestyle, with an outside shot to reach the podium in the 100m freestyle and the backstroke.
