Jarrett Perry

The Backstory:
At birth Jarrett Perry was diagnosed with twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS), resulting in less blood distributed to him before birth. This resulted in the amputation of his right leg to prevent further issues. Perry has had a long Paralympic career, competing in many championships from years 2002-2008. Among his many medals and accomplishments, he earned a gold medal at the 2004 Paralympic Games and a bronze at the 2008 Paralympic Games, both in the 100m backstroke. Though Perry has been retired from competition, he is back and ready to take on the 2021 Tokyo Games.

Away from swimming:
Perry graduated from the University of Colorado with a degree in Aeronautical Engineering. After retiring from competing in 2011, he started working as a mentor with the U.S. Paralympic Military Program with their Warriors in Transition program. Helping other in their own journey is something Perry has experience in, he enjoys answering questions when he can and has even offered a hand at Hanger expos.

In their own words:
“At a pool, they don’t discriminate against who they let in and who they don’t. Everyone can compete, and everyone can have a good time.”
